Born on the 23rd of January, 1950 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Richard Dean Anderson comes from a family of varied heritage. He was brought up in Roseville, Minnesota, with three brothers while his dad was a teacher, and mom was an artist.
He originally aimed to become a hockey player, but things took a U-turn when he broke both arms during high school. So, he changed his focus to art including acting and music. He originally strived towards making jazz music but his interests eventually changed.
