Tom Welling entered the world on April 26, 1977 as Thomas Joseph Welling. He was born in Putnam Valley, New York. He was brought up alongside three siblings namely Rebecca, Mark, and Jamie. He is also distantly related to famous film and TV show actor, Evan Peters.
Welling’s formative years were filled with constant relocations, from Delaware and Wisconsin to Michigan. In 1995, he finished his high school education from Okemos High School located in Michigan. Originally taking part in school plays, he later on transitioned to various sports like soccer.
Career
Welling’s foray into the entertainment industry began when casting agent Jennifer Starr spotted him at a 1998 Nantucket party. On Starr’s recommendation, he shifted from working in construction to modeling, and was signed by Louisa Modeling Agency. This career change brought him to LA in 2000. Here, he worked with big brands like Tommy Hilfiger, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Calvin Klein.
Welling’s TV career initialized with a recurring role as karate teacher Rob Meltzer on the CBS legal drama Judging Amy from 2001 to 2002. Next, he was cast in the pilot of the Fox sitcom, Undeclared, in 2001. Nevertheless, his breakthrough occurred with the role of young Clark Kent (Superman) on Smallville. Welling and model Jamie White got married in 2002. Their wedding vows took place in a Martha Vineyard’s ceremony. They originally lived in LA but eventually relocated to Vancouver in 2011. However, their married life was marred with problems, and the duo got divorced in 2015, after a divorce filing in 2013 by White.
Welling entered a new relationship with founder of the Saddle Club and equestrian Jessica Rose Lee in 2014. Their engagement was announced in 2018 and they fulfilled their vows in 2019. Two sons entered the world via this marriage namely Thomson Wylde in 2019 and Rochlin Von in 2021.

Welling has achieved multiple Teen Choice Awards nominations, both for the TV series Smallville, the first of these is for 2002’s Choice Breakout TV Star – Male.
